I come from a family of teachers. My parents were teachers and my grandparents were teachers, too. As a student, I liked most of the subjects taught in school. I was involved in many student competitions and in a variety of extracurricular activities. At some point in high school, I realized that I was the only girl from my class participating in Physics competitions. I decided to keep studying Physics as a college student because of its connection to everything in the world around us. During my college years, I realized that the teachers which I admired most were rigorous and able to explain difficult topics, but not afraid to show their heart and care about their students. As a teacher I aim to be to my students as these teachers were to me: a mentor. I helped my students to prepare for Physics competitions and some of them obtained impressive results, qualifying for national competitions. Some of my former students are currently working for multinational tech companies. If you have the patience to learn how Physics works, you will help your mind to properly analyze any new situation using logic and scientific inquiry tools. These tools will help you later in your life, no matter what career field you will choose for your future. As a teacher I was always looking to integrate my passions in my daily work with my students. By using new technologies and communicating with teachers from other countries, I participated in several European School Projects, with the main goal of improving the involvement of our students in the curricular and extracurricular activities. I coordinated three different school projects involving schools from Italy, Finland, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Romania, Luxembourg, Slovakia, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. My students were able to collaborate with other students from these countries and worked together on a variety of topics such as Ecology, Art, Geography, Geology, Culinary Arts, Customs and Traditions, History, Foreign Languages, Physics, and Technology. My students, colleagues, and I were able to visit the partner schools and to enrich our school work with new ideas and projects.
I really enjoyed working on these projects and I feel that I learned so much by collaborating with different schools, teachers, and students from different countries! I am also very invested in encouraging collaboration between my students in my Science classes. At the same time, I am asking for a lot of individual work and involvement in the daily classroom activities. I strongly believe that when students are using their creativity and originality they are able to make the best progress and they are able to really enjoy their work.
